The third round of Unlocking Curious Minds funding is now open.

Up to $2million is available to support new projects for 2017 that boost New Zealanders' connection and engagement with science and technology.

There are two levels of grants available: up to $30,000 for local projects and up to $150,000 for regional or national projects. Applications are sought from both individuals and organisations and all proposals are due by 12 noon on 10 November 2016.

The Unlocking Curious Minds contestable fund was piloted in 2015 and 2016. It has supported almost 100 projects through research organisations, iwi, community groups and educational organisations, and businesses around New Zealand.

The projects funded so far have engaged an estimated 100,000 New Zealanders from all walks of life, including young people who are considering their future careers.

The fund is an initiative under A Nation of Curious Minds – He Whenua Hihiri i te Mahara, the Government’s strategic plan to encourage all New Zealanders to get engaged with science and technology.
