This project will engage approx. 30 Taranaki Yr 11-13 students in research challenges associated with wireless connectivity.
During a 4 day workshop in early July, this project will be delivered by Dr Fakhrul Alam, 3 other Massey staff and 3 or more PhD students from Massey's School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, who will be working with local secondary teachers, and staff from project partner PrimoWireless, with the project being coordinated by Eve Kawana-Brown, Massey’s Business Development Manager for Taranaki.
The project will educate and train students on the methods used to analyse the quality of connectivity (signal strength and interference) at a given location. Students will then analyse wireless connectivity around the given location and develop a plan to improve the quality of the network, then be guided to apply what they have learnt to the bigger question of solving region-wide connectivity issues in Taranaki.
